Indonesia’s leading vaccine and pharmaceutical producer, Bio Farma, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zimbabwe’s National Pharmaceutical Company (NatPharm) to strengthen strategic cooperation. The signing occurred during the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) 2024, held in Bali from 1-3 September. The forum aims to foster closer relations between Indonesia and African nations, particularly in health and pharmaceuticals.
The MoU was signed by Yuliana Indriati, Bio Farma’s Business Development Director, and Ms. Ruth Kaseke, Chairperson of NatPharm’s Board, who represented Managing Director Newman Madzikwa. Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunawan Sadikin and Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister, Honourable Kembo C.D. Mohadi, witnessed the signing, joined by delegations from both governments.
Ms. Indriati stated that the MoU aims to build a strong framework for cooperation in pharmaceutical supply and production, with a special focus on Zimbabwe. “This MoU is designed to promote, develop, and enhance cooperation between our two companies, focusing on ensuring access to affordable, quality medicines for the people of Zimbabwe,” she said.
She added that the partnership is expected to bring the two companies closer together and significantly impact Zimbabwe’s pharmaceutical needs. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to innovation and advancing global health standards,” Ms. Indriati concluded.
